When I was quite young, probably between 4 and 7 my biggest fear was that someone I knew or loved would not get to go to Heaven. I especially feared for my one uncle who was athiest.
He died when I was 15. I mourned his death but also by this time had come to the conclusion that everyone goes to heaven. You may wonder why or you may scoff but for me and millions more like me this is the fact. It wasn't proven until years later with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and especially those in Cave 4.
Now to be honest I rarely go to any church. The mood has to be right, the want has to be there and I have to get up on time. Churches like most things are man made to start and mean nothing to me anyway but every so often I go because I have a need to be there.
People have asked where my beliefs come from and I have only one answer for them, they come from God Himself. I read the Bible and then talk to Him about what I've read.
I do not claim to be a theologian but I did take a course on St. Paul as he gave me so much grief with his way of looking at women in general. In his books you will find all the answers to the whole heaven/hell question if you have the eyes to see.
Paul states that we, meaning all of us will be purified if needed, cleansed of all wrong doing, and one day will sit in heaven also. Paul states that Sodom and Gomorah will be restored to their former glory as does Isaiah. There is no everlasting torment, only refinement for an age in God's paln for us. So sleep easy, all those who don't believe will one day and all those who are evil and abusive and destroyers now will one day become good and wonderful souls.
Hard to swallow?
For some I suppose it is. There have been many atrocities committed on this world, things we cannot forgive let alone forget but God can.
He cared so much and wanted His plan to work so well that He sent Jesus to take the brunt of it all and there is our most basic of answers folks. If Jesus died for the sins of the world and that includes the evil people as well, then who are we to kick him in the teeth and say his gift is no good?
Jesus died for me and he died for Ted Bundy too.
If you really want to know how it works then read a book called The Jerome Conspiracy. It is written by the son of an evangical preacher and yes quite simple as are all Christian books but it will open your eyes to a new and wonderful world of who and what God is really all about.
